    The GlenAllachie 13 Year Old Madeira Finish Review
    The Glenallachie 13 Year Old Madeira Finish is from Batch 3 of The GlenAllachie Wood Finish range.
    The Madeira cask finish has worked very well, it adds to the whisky without making it overly sweet at all as Madeira cask finishes can sometimes do. I think the finishing time was spot on, it does get a little spicier with each mouthful but be warned it is an incredibly moreish dram.

    Ardbeg 1974 31 Year Old Fetches A Record Price At Auction
    A bottle of Ardbeg 1974 31 Year Old Cask #2742, one of only 36 bottles from Cask #2742, the smallest-ever official single cask release from the distillery, has achieved an auction hammer price of £35,000, a record for a single bottle of Ardbeg. The whisky contains the last batch of spirit to have been made using exclusively on-site-peated malt.

    Just giving this post a bump up as I have now tasted the new Fettercairn 18 Year Old Scottish Oak Finish, a marriage of American White Oak casks which have been finish in 100% Scottish Oak.
    The Scottish oak has certainly had its say in this whisky but it doesn't fully overwhelm Fettercairn's fruity DNA, a pleasurable balance of fruit and oak.

    Aberdeenshire whisky shop and tasting room, Still Spirit has been awarded VisitScotland’s Five Star tourism rating.

    Ardbeg Cask No.3 distilled in 1975 sells to a private collector in Asia for an eye watering price of £16 Million.
    Laid down to age in 1975 in two separate casks – a bourbon and an Oloroso sherry. Those casks were patiently matured for over 38 years. Then Ardbeg’s acclaimed Director of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden, decided to marry the two casks in 2014 into a single refill Oloroso butt.

    Laphroaig Names New Distillery Manager
    Barry MacAffer a long-serving Friend of Laphroaig and an Ileach who grew up next door to the Laphroaig distillery grounds and who joined the whisky production team at the Laphroaig distillery in 2011 as an agency worker covering work in the warehouses and on the malt floors has been named as the new Laphroaig Distillery Manager taking over the vacant position left by Laphroaig's former long serving manager John Campbell who held the role for 25 years.

    The GlenDronach distillery recently announced the limited release of its first-ever 50 Year Old Single Malt; its oldest and rarest whisky to date. Distilled in 1971 and matured in traditional dunnage warehouses in rare Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. These casks were then married together for a final maturation in a single Pedro Ximénez cask.

    First Distillation At Ardara Distillery In Donegal
