Glengoyne Gift Bottle Of 50 Year Old To German Whisky Club
17th February 2022
A whisky club
in Hildesheim, Germany has celebrated
their reunion with a bottle of Glengoyne
50 Year Old thanks to the generosity of
the Glengoyne distillery.
Thanks to the generosity of Glengoyne
a group of friends at a German whisky
club has toasted their reunion with an
extra special dram, a bottle of
Glengoyne 50 Year Old.
When the Glengoyne distillery launched
the Glengoyne 50 Year Old in 2020, it
pledged to gift 1 of the 150 decanters,
priced at £22,500, to a group of friends
to make their post-pandemic reunion
extra special and true to their word
the sherried Highland dram maker
presented the bottle to the group of
friends at the whisky club in
Hildesheim, Germany.
After what has been a vastly challenging
couple of years, the distillery wanted
to make an extra-special moment for a
lucky group of people. Through an online
ballot, groups of friends and family
were invited to submit a description of
their perfect moment for savouring the
50 Year Old - whether toasting a delayed
celebration, or creating an
unforgettable reunion.
The winner, Christian Schüßler, vowed to
share the once-in-a-lifetime dram with
his local whisky club in Hildesheim, at
their first reunion since the start of
the pandemic.
Proving that great whisky should be
enjoyed whatever its age, Glengoyne
global brand ambassador, Gordon Dundas,
hand-delivered the £22,500 bottle to the
German group and gave a personalised
tasting session.
The Glengoyne 50 Year Old which has been
bottled at 45.8% ABV comes in a special
crystal decanter, which features an
engraved goose emblem representing the
geese who migrate to the Glen each
winter. Hidden within the beautiful
solid oak and gold display box is an
individually hand numbered book, signed
by Distillery Manager, Robbie Hughes.
Unfortunately I haven't had the chance
to taste the Glengoyne 50 Year Old,
although I had a bottle of the Glengoyne
40 Year Old a few years back and it was
a stunning dram so I would be confident
Glengoyne has bottled something special
once again.
You will probably not find any of the Glengoyne
50 available from now as I believe it
sold out fast but well done to Glengoyne
for giving a bottle away, if you would
like to explore Glengoyne's whisky
range which is renowned for its sherry
cask influence you will find it available from specialist online
whisky retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange,
Amazon
and
