GlenAllachie
launch the seventh batch of their 10 Year Old Cask Strength
expression.
The
GlenAllachie has announced the launch of
the latest batch of their GlenAllachie
10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 7.
GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength
Batch 7 was aged in a combination of
Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry
puncheons, Rioja barriques and virgin
oak casks, all personally selected and
blended by GlenAllachie's Master
Distiller Billy Walker.
Walker – who this year celebrates
reaching an astonishing half-century as
a blender in the Scotch Whisky industry
– holds widespread recognition for his
hands-on approach and innovative
maturation philosophy. Each release of
the decade-old expression reflects this
distinguished expertise in wood
management.
Bottled at 56.8% ABV, without added
colouring or chill filtration, the
punchy cask strength spirit of the
seventh batch is said to be abundant with rich
mocha, stewed plums, runny honey and
cinnamon tones.
Remarking on this latest batch release,
Walker comments: "Every batch we create of our
10-year-old Cask Strength represents the
direction in which we are taking The
GlenAllachie. From the outset, our
defined objective has been to achieve a
bold and flavourful yet balanced spirit,
predominantly matured in Sherry wood,
but with interesting twists introduced
by unusual cask types.
"This latest batch is a complex and
enjoyable drinking experience which
brings together spirit from some truly
exceptional Sherry, Wine and virgin oak
casks. I must say, this one is pretty
special!"
Prior to this launch, the latest
addition to The GlenAllachie’s core
range was the 21 year old Cask Strength
Batch 2, unveiled in February 2022.
The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 7 has a UK RRSP of £62.99
and you will find it available from
specialist online whisky retailers such as

The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 7 Review
|
Bottled at 56.8% ABV. This is the
producers tasting note which appears to
be the same note for each batch released
to date, what I take from this is that
they believe each batch has been
consistently similar in flavour and
style to all preceding batches.
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Waves of heather honey, dried fruit,
cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by orange
peel, mocha and treacle.
Taste:
Lashings of dark chocolate, figs and
heather honey, with raisins, cinnamon,
plums and hints of orange zest.

GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch
1 Review
|
Note this is a review of Batch 1.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Sweet honey and vanilla toffee infused
with a touch of orange, a hint of
cinnamon and oak spice hiding in the
background.
Taste:
A honey coated mix of apple, orange and
raisin leads, followed closely by some
vanilla toffee,
cocoa and a little vibrant fresh
oak spice.
Finish:
The honeyed sweetness gives way to some
dark chocolate and oak, it then bitters
out rather quickly. Mildly drying.
Comment:
For all its strength it bitters out
quickly but it is is a joy on the nose
and in the mouth while it lasts. I would
love to see them turning up the sherry
cask contribution on the next batch,
still a fantastic introduction to the
Glenallachie. On my first taste of this
I had scored it 84 but I have now been
back to it a few times, in fact I have
almost got through a whole bottle in the
past month and have upped my rating a
little.
SMW Score 87/100
