GlenAllachie
continues the resurrection of its White
Heather Blended Scotch Whisky brand with
the launch of a White Heather 15 Year
Old expression which joins the White
Heather 21 Year Old expression which
launched last year.

When
the three person
consortium lead by the 50 year Scotch
whisky industry veteran, the former BenRiach
Distillery Company Managing
Director/Master Distiller & Blender
Billy Walker purchased the little known
GlenAllachie distillery from Campbell
Distillers (Pernod Ricard) back in 2017
Billy quickly set about assessing the
inventory of almost 50,000 maturing
barrels at the distillery.
Once Billy had done this
he transformed the choice of offerings
that was available to single malt whisky
fans through a combination of creative
blending and the use of a wide selection
of wine cask finishes which as whisky
fans have since found out The
GlenAllachie spirit is perfect for.
The GlenAllachie distillery had long
been a feeder distillery for the Chivas
Brothers blends under Pernod Ricard's
ownership and White Heather Blended
Scotch Whisky was one of those blends
and it is one of the blends which Billy
Walker acquired along with the purchase
of The GlenAllachie Distillery.
Some of the more mature whisky drinkers
amongst you may recall the White Heather
Blended Scotch Whisky brand, it dates
back to the late 1970's, it was
considered a premium blend and there used to be various
aged expressions available, I recall a
White Heather no age statement
expression as well as a 5, 8 and 15 Year
Old expression quite some years ago but
the brand has been dormant for some
years now, that is until now.
Billy has now turned his attention and
creative blending skills to the White
Heather brand, this actually takes him
back to his roots in the Scotch Whisky
industry when he earned his stripes as a
blender, developing world-leading
products for the global market. He
relaunched the brand in March 2021 with
a
White Heather 21 Year Old expression
and he recently followed it with the
launch of a limited release
White Heather 15 Year Old
expression.
Both the blends have been crafted using
a high percentage of malt whisky, each
has 47% malt whisky and 53% grain whisky,

review of them see here:
