Tamdhu
distillery has announced the release of
the next instalment of their popular
Batch Strength series, Tamdhu Batch
Strength 007.
Tamdhu Batch Strength 007 is bottled un-chillfiltered
at 57.5% ABV, and is described as having
a rich, natural copper hue as a result
of full maturation in Oloroso sherry
seasoned casks from the bodegas of
Jerez, Spain.
They say on the nose you’re met with a
subtle waft of vanilla sponge, followed
by spicy cinnamon and roasted praline.
The luxurious, thick mouthfeel is
complimented by a decadent pavlova
filled with luscious raspberries. A drop
of water unveils caramel apricots with a
wave of oak spice, and a zingy lemon
punch.
On the lengthy and lingering finish,
warm oak spices give way to baked figs
and evident sherry flavours, which
ascend to meet the freshly peeled
clementine.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery
Manager, said: "Batch Strength No. 007
is a testament to our dedication to
exclusively sherry matured whisky, with
its deep copper colour and complex
profile. Each Oloroso cask is
meticulously hand-crafted, delivering an
exquisite, nuanced flavour and a long,
satisfying finish."
Tamdhu has collected numerous accolades
as a result of the Batch Strength
series, most recently for the
outstanding Batch
Strength No. 006 (my review below) which
took home the ‘Gold’ award in the ‘No
Age Statement’ category at the San
Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Tamdhu Batch Strength No. 007 has a RRP
of £80.99 and you will find it available from
specialist online whisky retailers such
as

Tamdhu Batch Strength 6 Review
|
This is my review of Batch 6 which was
released in September last year, I
haven't yet tasted the just released
Batch 7 but if it comes close to the
quality of this last release then it
will be worth trying.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A deliciously rich mix of vanilla,
honey, sherry soaked sultana and raisin
fruitcake with some orange and lemon
adding to the fruitiness, a hint of
toasted almond, a little ginger and some
mild spicy treacle toffee.
Taste:
A rich sweet sherried fruit delivery,
the delicious sherried fruit - raisins,
sultanas and cherries are joined by some
plum, a touch of mildly zesty orange, a
little nuttiness, a touch of vanilla and
behind the fruitiness is a lovely honey,
cinnamon and oak spice.
Finish:
A long finish with the burnt raisins and
sultanas hanging in there for an age,
some cinnamon and ginger hangs in there
too, some lingering treacle toffee and
mildly drying oak at the end.
Comment:
An absolutely delicious big Oloroso
sherried dram, a pleasure from nose to
finish, some quality sherry casks at
play here and the cask strength simply
adds to the flavour and pleasure
experience. Tamdhu is becoming one to
watch for fans of a big sherried dram
going by the quality of this, highly
recommended.
