Review of Jameson The Cooper's Croze from Jameson Whiskey Makers Series.

Jameson The Cooper's Croze is one of a trio of premium blended whiskey's in Jameson's new  Whiskey Makers Series, a brand new range of super-premium Jameson whiskeys which celebrates the people behind Jameson, their craft and the tools they use to create Jameson.

The Cooper’s Croze showcases the role of Jameson’s Head Cooper, Ger Buckley, and explores the influence that maturation in casks has on whiskey. A fifth generation cooper, Ger has a deep relationship with wood and is tasked with selecting, repairing and maintaining Midleton’s diverse and treasured barrels. Ger’s prized possession – a croze – passed down through his family, is used to make the groove where the head of the cask is positioned.

The resulting blended whiskey is matured in virgin American oak barrels, seasoned bourbon barrels and Iberian sherry casks.

Jameson The Cooper’s Croze was bottled at 40% ABV and will be available from these specialist Whisky Shops with an RRP of £53.50/€70 or local equivalent for a 70cl bottle.


William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: Lovely sweet vanilla, red apples, raisins, coconut, a little fresh pear

Taste:  Creamy vanilla interlaced with sweet pot still and oak spices is joined by some delicate sherried fruit and a touch of coconut.

Finish: The vanilla fades fast leaving some mild dried fruit and oak spices

Comment: A deliciously creamy vanilla'd Jameson which gets spicier with each mouthful, with just a delicate influence from the sherry casks. As you would expect from a whiskey named Cooper's Croze the choice of oak the component whiskies have matured in has made this whiskey. A cracking whiskey, lost a few points on the short finish.
