I made the journey from Niagara, Ontario to Toronto for this special evening hosted by Vintages, a subsidiary of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO). The event was held at the prestigious The National Club on January 26th, 2016. The dinner and tasting event was sold out weeks in advance.
The whisky experts at the dais were Stuart MacPherson, The Macallan’s Master of Wood, Iain McCallum, Master of Malts for Morrison Bowmore Distillers and Nicolas Vilalon, Portfolio Ambassador for The Macallan and Highland Park.

Each whisky expert presented their brands and subsequently operationalized a structured tasting involving 8 whiskies including some premium and super-premium single malts. I must say that the dinner in the form of an elaborate buffet was delicious with a 50 pound hip of beef on the bone and a number of 25 pound baked salmon encrusted in over an inch of salt among an array of other dishes. Post tasting there was a lovely dessert buffet and coffee.
Enough about the food, on to the the evenings line up of whisky...
