Review of the
Tobermory 1999 19 Year Old Marsala
Finish Distell Limited Release 2019 Malt Whisky Collection.
 The
only Tobermory expression in Distell's
Limited Release Malt Whisky Collection
2019, this Tobermory 1999 19 Year Old
Marsala Finish was initially filled into
whisky refill hogsheads in December 1999
followed by just over 2 years finishing
in Marsala casks.
Bottled at a cask strength of 55.7% ABV,
naturally coloured and non-chillfiltered,
it is a limited release of 211 bottles,
with a RRP of £130 it will be
available here in the UK, Europe,
Taiwan, China, Canada, USA and Global
Travel Retail.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Treacle toffee with a coffee edge, a
candied orange citrus and a touch of
pear, vanilla, some distant gentle
floral notes.
Taste:
Rich, sweet and smooth, gently spiced
orange marmalade leads, a delicious mild
barley sugared sweetness, treacle
toffee.
Finish:
Long, the toffee is more vanilla than
treacle now and the orange is still
hanging in there but becomes a little
more spicy.
Comment:
This has such a lovely dark amber
natural colour not really represented in
the image above, it has a lovely orange
note from nose to finish which starts
sweet and gets spicier. It certainly
shows how good Tobermory can be with
more years in the cask and the Marsala
finish has simply enhanced the whisky.
