Review of the
Deanston 1997 21 Year Old Palo Cortado Finish Distell Limited Release 2019 Malt Whisky Collection.
 The
oldest release from the trio of Deanston
releases in Distell's Limited Release
Malt Whisky Collection 2019 is this
Deanston 1997 21 Year Old Palo Cortado
Finish which was initially matured for
19 years in ex-Bourbon casks and then
transferred into Palo Cortado hogsheads
for a final 2 years maturation.
Bottled at a cask strength of 51.8% ABV,
naturally coloured and non-chillfiltered,
it is a limited release of 277 bottles,
with a RRP of £150 it will be
available here in the UK, Europe,
Taiwan, China, Canada, USA and Global
Travel Retail.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A gentle candied sweetness and a lovely
light sherried fruitiness, toasted
raisins, vanilla and sweet toffee, a
hint of honey and a very gentle peppery
spice.
Taste:
More sherry than the nose told you was
coming and in a very good way, mulled
pear, sweet honeycomb, spiced orange,
raisins a little toasted almond and some
lovely oak.
Finish:
Deliciously long, sweet honeyed
vanilla'd oak is matched by the
lingering sherry fruit.
Comment:
Another delicious Deanston sherried
dram. It isn't often we see Palo
Cortado sherry casks used to mature or
finish a whisky, it is very Oloroso
sherry like and the casks used here have
been very high quality. If you pockets
are deep enough this will not disappoint
if you enjoy a sherried dram of this
maturity.
