Review of the
Deanston 2002 16 Year Old Organic
Oloroso Finish Distell Limited Release 2019 Malt Whisky Collection.
 Another
one of three Deanston expressions in
Distell's Limited Release Malt Whisky
Collection 2019, this Deanston 2002 16
Year Old Organic Oloroso Finish was
initially laid down to mature in
rechared organic ex-Bourbon casks for 14
years which is effectively casks which
have been flailed back to virgin wood
and then rechared, it was then finished
for 2 final years in organic Oloroso
sherry casks which were supplied by
Robles the only fully organic sherry
producer.
Bottled at a cask strength of 50.6% ABV,
naturally coloured and non-chillfiltered,
it is a limited release of 268 bottles,
with a RRP of £65 it will be
available here in the UK, Europe,
Taiwan, China, Canada, USA and Global
Travel Retail.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich, enticing with some lovely toasted oak
notes. Toffee and a burnt candy
sweetness infused with baked sherried fruit
and oak.
A touch of cinnamon spice and coffee.
Some orange and cloves lurking in the
background.
Taste:
Rich, sweet and warming, honeyed toffee
infused with dark chocolate orange,
burnt raisins and vanilla, velvety leather and
all with a lovely cinnamon
edge.
Finish:
A deliciously long
fruity and spicy finale, dark sherried fruit
and a honeyed sweetness, the slightly drying sherried
oak spices slowly fade.
Comment:
This really is a delicious sherried dram
that wouldn't be out of place on a cold
winters night but will be equally
enjoyable anytime. A
lovely rich, fruity, honeyed, spicy
expression of Deanston.
