Review of the
Ledaig 1997 21 Year Old Manzanilla
Finish Distell Limited Release 2019 Malt Whisky Collection.
 Distilled
at the Tobermory distillery this is the
only Ledaig expression in Distell's
Limited Release Malt Whisky Collection
2019, this Ledaig 1997 21 Year Old
Manzanilla Finish was initially matured
in whisky refill hogsheads then finished
in Manzanilla hogsheads for just over 2
years.
Bottled at a cask strength of 58.9% ABV,
naturally coloured and non-chillfiltered,
it is a limited release of 258 bottles,
with a RRP of £160 it will be
available here in the UK, Europe,
Taiwan, China, Canada, USA and Global
Travel Retail.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Lovely enticing sweet peat and vanilla
toffee, gentle spicy black pepper and a
lovely touch of sweet oak and lurking in
the background is some Demerara sugar,
burnt raisins and orange.
Taste:
Some Demerara sugar, burnt
raisins, orange from the nose,
deliciously sweet Ledaig peat with a
lovely peppery edge, some gentle dark chocolate
spiced orange and raisin.
Finish:
Long and lingering, the gentle Ledaig
sweet peat simply clings to the palate
for an age along with some peppered
spiced orange citrus.
Comment:
A sweet peaty delight and so smooth even
at a cask strength of 58.9% ABV. A very
high quality peaty dram, such a pity
they only released this one Ledaig
whisky in this 2019 Malt Whisky
Collection but if you are a fan of the
peated dram this is an outstanding
example and my stand out dram amongst a
high quality collection.
