Grant's
Triple Wood Smoky the new soon to be
released smoky blended whisky.
 Grant's
Triple Wood Smoky is a soon to be
released new permanent addition to the
Grant's whisky range which I am sure
will catch the interest of the smoky
whisky fans amongst you.
We know
that Grant's produce a quality Scotch
blended whisky in the form of the
Grant's Family Reserve which has now
been renamed Grant's Triple Wood, the
Grant's Triple Wood Smoky is as its name
suggests a peated spirit which has
matured in the same three types of cask
as Grant's signature blend, which is now
known as Grant's Triple Wood.
As
there are already a few excellent
quality smoky blends out there already
the question I am sure many of you will
ask is how does the new Grant's Triple
Wood Smoky compare to the likes of the
Johnnie Walker Double Black or The
Famous Grouse Smoky Black. Well as it
has not been released yet I can't comment
on its quality yet but I have posted the
official tasting note below to wet your
appetite.
Going by the quality of
the Grant's Triple Wood, I have high
hopes for the Smoky expression and I
will certainly share my thoughts with
you when I taste it and with an RSP of
£19 I am sure you will agree another
smoky dram at this price point will be
very welcome.
Presented in a
brown glass bottle to emphasise its
smokiness, the Grant's Triple Wood Smoky
is bottled at 40% ABV, 70cl bottle, and
will be available later in the year with
a RSP of £19.00
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A distinct smoky aroma with subtle notes
of fruit, malted oats and toasted
almonds.
Taste:
The initial smokiness is soon succeeded
with a soft, sweet fruitiness and a hint
of citrus.
Finish:
The smoke returns with a velvety
smoothness and a touch of dry tannin.
