Review of the
new Grant's Cask Edition Rum Cask Finish
blended whisky.
 Grant's
Rum Cask Finish blended Scotch whisky is
one of three new additions to the
recently overhauled Grant's blended
whisky range.
Grant's tell me
that this new Cask Editions expression
is the result of Grant’s Master Blender,
Brian Kinsman and his team having spent
decades experimenting by pairing Grant’s
traditional whisky blends with unusual
flavour profiles and I am sure you will
agree this is certainly an unusual
pairing as we don't see many blended
whiskies finished in Rum casks.
Brian has combined Grant's traditional
whisky blend with exotic flavours from
the Caribbean, Grant’s Rum Cask Edition
is matured in oak barrels before ageing
further in barrels that previously held
rum.
Grant's Rum Cask Finish is bottled
at 40% ABV, 70cl bottle and will be
available from this month. RRP £19.00

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Malty rich and sweet, toffee, a
sprinkling of brown sugar, some exotic
fruits, the slightest touch of green
banana.
Taste:
The delicious exotic fruits from the
nose arrive with a light dusting of
spice, vanilla toffee and sweet oak.
Finish: A lingering finish.
Sweet barley sugars which fade leaving some delicate spice and
drying oak.
Comment:
This really is delicious, the rum cask
has given this blend a deliciously
moreish quality, the sweet oak and
spices build after a few mouthfuls and
layered between the tropical fruits it
has made for an outstanding blended Scotch whisky.
Well done to Grant's for being
innovative and finishing their blended
whisky in rum casks as it has made for a
very enjoyable easy drinking blend and
best of all the RSP is only £19.00 but
you will currently find it in
Sainsbury's supermarkets for £16.50.
