Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish Review

Review of Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish.

Glen Moray has announced a new addition to its Classic range, this July will see the launch of the Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish.

The Sherry Cask Finish has been matured in American oak casks before being finished in Oloroso sherry casks for a minimum of 8 months.

Bottled at 40% ABV and with a very drinkable price tag of just £22 the new Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish will be available from July from Sainsbury's supermarkets here in the UK.

The new Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish joins the distillery's Classic Range which already includes Glen Moray Classic, Port Cask Finish and Peated all of which are currently available from whisky specialist shops online such as The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt

Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish Review

William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: A great display of dried sherried fruit. Toffee apple, a little honey, vanilla and cinnamon.

Taste: Dry and creamy at the same time, orange, raisins and sultanas, toffee laced with light oak spice, vanilla, a little nuttiness, some dark chocolate trying to break through.

Finish: A lovely long lingering mildly drying finish with some sherried fruit, a little teasing honey and some spicy oaky notes.

Comment: Yes it is young but it is also fun and very enjoyable, some decent sherry casks at work here and at £22 a bottle you just have to! Perhaps a little lack of integration between the sherry and and the spirit and the sherry trying to take charge of the young whisky.

The new sherry cask finish simply confirms why so much Glen Moray Classic whisky is sold every year, the Glen Moray Classic range offers great quality single malt whisky at a very drinkable prices. Look out for the new Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish in Sainsbury's from July.
