Review of BenRiach The Twelve 12 Year Old.

BenRiach The Twelve 12 Year OldBenRiach The Twelve 12 Year Old is a new unpeated 12 year old in the new look BenRiach core range.

Matured in a sherry rich profile with the addition of bourbon and port casks.

The BenRiach Twelve is bottled at 46% ABV and has a RRP of 44

William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: A lovely inviting nose with honey, pear, a little vanilla toffee, raisins, brown sugar, some distant coffee.

Taste: A deliciously smooth, juicy, sherry and port fruity combination leads with lightly barley sugared, honeyed raisins and sultanas, a touch of orange infused vanilla, some lovely light oak spices cling to the gentle oils.

Finish: Long, honeyed, lightly sherried with some lovely lingering spice.

Comment: There are some quality sherry, port and bourbon casks at play here and the 46% bottling strength certainly plays a part in how enjoyable The Twelve is and just like its younger sibling 'The Ten' for its asking price I can highly recommend it and if you are looking for a last minute Christmas gift for a whisky loving friend or family member you wont go wrong with this.

SMW Whisky Score 86/100
