Review of the
BenRiach The Original Ten 10 Year Old.
 BenRiach
The Original Ten 10 year old is the new
entry level single malt in the recently
revamped BenRiach core range.
Matured for 10 years in a combination of
bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin
oak
The BenRiach Original Ten
is bottled at 43% ABV and has a
RRP of £38

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Some fresh oak, a mix of green apple,
pear and just a touch of lemon. A little
barley sugar and a touch of coconut
Taste:
Honey, green apple and pear
leads, some toasted sweet malt, a faint
touch of vanilla infused with some delicious
peppery oak. A late touch of zesty lemon
and a little ginger joins the sweet
peppery oak, becomes a little more toffee'd after a few
mouthfuls.
Finish:
Deliciously long, fruit and sugars along
with some lovely oak spice cling to the
palate for an age prolonging the
pleasure.
Comment:
A delicious unpeated Benriach, not a
huge difference in this new Original Ten
10 year old compared to the Benriach 10
year old it replaces. It is still a lovely malty, fruity
and sugared introduction
to Benriach without the peat and a must
try when exploring what BenRiach has to
offer. For its price I highly recommend
it and if you are looking for a last
minute Christmas gift for a whisky
loving friend or family member that wont
bust the bank I am sure they would thank
you for this.
