Royal Brackla 16 Year Old Review

Four years on from the entry level whisky in the new Royal Brackla single malt whisky range and what a difference 4 years can make. The Royal Brackla 16 year old, like all the bottlings in the range is presented in rather regal looking navy blue packaging and bottled at 40% ABV and it carries a clear age statement which is becoming a rarity for many new releases these days.

William Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: A lovely rich enticing nose, vanilla, creamy caramel, marmalade.

Taste:  Rich, sweet juicy raisiny sweetness, orange, vanilla caramel, peaches and apricot, oak spices.

Finish: Longish, the juicy raisins, apricot and orange slowly fade leaving mildly drying oak spice.

Comment: What a difference four more years makes maturing in the barrel. A lovely well balanced dram, loads going on here, full of flavour. Considering age, quality and price this is my choice out of the new Royal Brackla range.

SMW Score 92/100

Royal Brackla 16 year old has an RRP of £84.99 and will be available from specialist whisky shops such as The Whisky Exchange
