The Macallan
Sienna 100% Sherry Cask Matured 100%
Natural Colour 43% ABV
The
Macallan Sienna is the third of four
whiskies in
the new Macallan 1824 Series which is a
series of single malt Scotch whiskies
where each whisky takes its name from
the colour of whisky.
As you move up the range the natural
colour of the whisky gets darker and of
course the sherry notes become bigger
and bolder.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Colour:
Rich auburn hinting at the sherry
influence to come.
Nose: Burnt sugar, orange, dark
cherry, toasty vanilla, toffee.
Taste: Rich, full bodied. Burnt
raisins, orange, dark cherry, chocolate,
a little zesty lemon, cinnamon, some
fresh apples and some mild oak spice and
ginger
hanging around in the background.
Finish: A long warming finish
with dark sherried fruit and nutmeg.
Comment:
A lovely well balanced dram for the Macallan sherry
oak lovers, loads going on here, full of flavour and my
choice out of the new Macallan 1824
Series.
I predict this one will be very popular
amongst the Macallan fans given its
quality and its price.
SMW Score 93/100
