The Macallan
Gold 100% Sherry Cask Matured 100%
Natural Colour 40% ABV
 The
Macallan Gold is the entry level whisky
in the new Macallan 1824 Series which is
a series of single malt Scotch whiskies
where each whisky takes its name from
the colour of whisky.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Colour:
Deep gold.
Nose: Finely balanced honey,
vanilla, orange and raisins.
Taste: Lightly sweet, light
creamy vanilla followed by a raisins,
orange and lemon peel, some light oak
spice, cinnamon.
Finish: Bitter sweet, a touch of
cinnamon, a mild slowly drying sherried
oakiness
Comment:
I can't fault this, a nice clean lightly
sherried Macallan.
This is the entry level whisky in the
new Macallan 1824 series and a very
nicely balanced expression of the
Macallan. I would imagine this is a
vatting of mainly refill sherry cask
matured whisky with a drop of first fill
sherry cask whisky in there also.
Those of you looking for the Macallan
Gold to be a replacement for the
Macallan 10 year old sherry oak may be
disappointed it is a quality dram but
the sherry influence in the Gold is
milder than what you would have found in
the old Macallan 10.
It
does not carry an age statement but I
cant say I found the Macallan Gold
youthful at all so Bob Dalgarno at The
Macallan has done a good job of putting
this new whisky together. If you are
looking for a more classic big bold sherried
Macallan I suggest looking at the other
Macallans in the 1824 Series but if you
fancy a lighter sherried Macallan then you will like this.
