Review of the
new Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 1.
 The
Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength
Batch 1 is the entry level expression in
the newly launched Glenallachie core
range.
It is said to showcase a
taste of The Glenallachie Distillery,
bottled straight from the cask at
natural strength.
The 57.1%
whisky was matured in a combination of
American oak, Pedro Ximinez, Oloroso and
virgin oak casks, there will be 2000
cases of this first batch available
worldwide.
The Glenallachie 10
Year Old Cask Strength Batch 1 is
presented in a 70cl bottle and is now
available with a RRP £58.00

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Sweet honey and vanilla toffee infused
with a touch of orange, a hint of
cinnamon and oak spice hiding in the
background.
Taste:
A honey coated mix of apple, orange and
raisin leads, followed closely by some
vanilla toffee,
cocoa and a little vibrant fresh
oak spice.
Finish:
The honeyed sweetness gives way to some
dark chocolate and oak, it then bitters
out rather quickly. Mildly drying.
Comment:
For all its strength it bitters out
quickly but it is is a joy on the nose
and in the mouth while it lasts. I would
love to see them turning up the sherry
cask contribution on the next batch,
still a fantastic introduction to the
Glenallachie. On my first taste of this
I had scored it 84 but I have now been
back to it a few times, in fact I have
almost got through a whole bottle in the
past month and have upped my rating a
little.
