Review of Glen Moray 2004 Burgundy
Single Cask No. 213
 The
Glen Moray 2004 Burgundy Single Cask No.
213 is one of three new single cask
whiskies launched by the Speyside
distillery in July this year.
Distilled in 2004 and fully matured in a
ex-Burgundy wine cask then bottled as it
came from the cask, non-chill filtered, naturally coloured and at a
cask strength of 60.1% ABV.
This single cask release is normally
reserved exclusively for distillery
visitors to purchase but due to the
ongoing Covid-19 and travel restrictions
in place the distillery has made all
three of their Glen Moray 2020
Distillery Edition whiskies available to
purchase via their Dial A Dram service,

bottle.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A very mellow fruitiness with apricots,
plum and a little orange citrus, milk
chocolate, some very gentle sweet oak
spice and a little almond lurking in the
background
Taste:
A luscious burst of slightly candied
fruity flavours intermingled with milk
chocolate, plum and ripe, red fruits
such as cherry and raspberry, stewed
apples.
Finish:
Medium to longish, as the wave of fruit
eases a slightly peppery mouthfeel
develops then some late lemon zest.
Comment:
A little shy on the nose but an absolute
pleasure of a dram in the mouth and a
great example of Glen Moray off its
familiar beaten track, exactly what
these distillery exclusive bottling's
should be.
