Glengoyne 18 Year Old

Glengoyne 18 Year Old Review & Tasting Notes

The Glengoyne 18 year old replaces the very popular 17 year old in October 2012. It is an upgrade of the 17 year old which has basically spent an extra year maturing.

The Glengoyne 18 year old contains a higher portion of first fill Sherry casks producing a deliciously rich, mouth-coating whisky. Spicy vanilla fruit, ripe apples and a rich, luxurious mouth feel.

Wonderfully ripe fruit and spicy fruit. The effects of the copper stills and oak casks jostle for prominence, but neither succeed. This is a supremely well balanced whisky.

Bottled at 43% ABV (40% ABV in travel retail) and has no added colouring.

Glengoyne 18 Year Old Tasting Notes

Producer's Tasting Notes:

Colour: Medium gold with a rich glow.

Nose: A wash with red apple, ripe melon and fresh banana. Heavenly and well rounded, it drifts into hot porridge topped with brown sugar.

Taste: Full bodied, round and rich. At first macerated fruits, marzipan and walnuts; then warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville marmalade.

Finish: Long, warm and dry.
