Review of the
GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Pedro
Ximenez Sherry Wood Finish.
 The Glenallachie
12 Year Old Pedro Ximenez Sherry Wood
Finish in terms of age sits at the top
of the new Glenallachie wood finish
range, initially matured for over ten
years in American Oak Wood Barrels which
was then followed by additional
maturation in richly seasoned Pedro
Ximenez Puncheons.
The
Glenallachie 12 Year Old Pedro Ximenez
Sherry Wood Finish is bottled at 48% ABV, it is
naturally coloured, non-chill-filtered
and has an RRP of £54.99.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Brown sugared sweetened plums, raisins
and sultanas, a wee touch of orange and
a whiff of dark chocolate lurking in the
background.
Taste:
A deliciously rich and vibrant mix of
raisins, sultanas, orange infused
toffee, gentle oak spice.
Finish:
A medium length finish sees the fruit
fade out quickly leaving sweet oak
spices to linger a little.
Comment:
The best of the three single malts in
the new Glenallachie wood finish range
for me but like the other two I cant
help but think that it could have
benefitted from a little longer
finishing or more lively sherry casks or
perhaps this is as good as it gets using
the Glenallachie spirit, as it is £54.99
is a big ask for this whisky or indeed
any of the three whiskies in the
Glenallachie wood finish range. Don't
get me wrong it is still a very
enjoyable dram if you want to spend
£54.99.
