Whisky Focus - Raise A Glass With Whyte & Mackay On World Whisky Day

Whilst restrictions remain in place around the world, the annual World Whisky Day will return tomorrow Saturday 16th May, as an online celebration of the whisky community. A series of events will take place online, featuring Jura Single Malt Whisky, and key figures from across the industry including World Whisky Day Founder, Blair Bowman, and special guests.

The world has had to respond to the challenging times we face, including the whisky community in Scotland and worldwide. WWD and Whyte & Mackay responded with a reimagined online event, to provide an opportunity for the community to come together, mark the day, and recognize the people in the industry in aid of The Drinks Trust – the charity for the drinks industry.

The programme will feature a Big WWD Quiz which will take place on Saturday at 19:30 BST and will take place on Facebook Live on WWD’s Facebook page. The quiz will feature special guest appearances from well-known whisky faces including Whyte and Mackay’s whisky maker Gregg Glass. In addition WWD and Whyte and Mackay are making very special whiskies available for charity auction later in May.

Daryl Haldane, Head of Whisky Experience, said: "It is undoubtedly a difficult time right now. People will be celebrating World Whisky Day a bit differently this year, as they look forward to a day when we come through this and can share a dram together. That is why we wanted to offer something a bit different this year. We invite people to take a moment to enjoy the stories we will be sharing online, and to raise a glass with friends and family, whether virtually or together."
