Jura launches
first whisky in a new Cask Editions
series, the Jura Red Wine Cask Finish
will be available exclusively from
Sainsbury's here in the UK.
 You
may have already spotted this on the
shelves in Sainsbury's here in the UK,
the Isle of Jura distillery has
released a new Jura Red Wine Cask Finish
which in the UK will be exclusively
available from the high street
supermarket, the new red wine cask
finished whisky is the first of a series
of Cask Editions which will pay homage
to the tiny island community distillery.
Jura Red Wine Cask Finish has been
matured in American White Oak ex-Bourbon
barrels before being finished in
hand-selected European red wine
barriques for 18 to 24 months.
Bottled at 40% ABV, it is said to be a
balanced and delicate single malt
bursting with rich berry flavours, it is
described as having enticing aromas of
sultanas, creamy caramel and Black
Forest fruits. The palate is said to
present a pleasing flourish of creamy
vanilla, raspberries, strawberries and
cinnamon spice.
Each whisky in the new Cask Editions is
designed to offer consumers a fresh and
simple cask maturation proposition. The
series celebrates the connection between
the land and the spirit bringing
distinct regional and seasonal flavours
to the island malt.
Gregg Glass, Whisky Maker & Blender at
Jura's parent company, Whyte & Mackay,

richer fruit notes yet stayed true to
the heart of our distillery character

As I said the new Jura Red Wine Cask
Single Malt Whisky is exclusively
available throughout the UK at
Sainsbury’s, presented in a 1 litre
bottle with a RRP of £44, it will also
be available in a 70cl bottle in
Carrefour stores throughout France with
a RRP of 29.90 EUR.

Tasting Notes:
Colour:
Mahogany gold with glints of crimson.
Nose:
Delicate and refined with enticing
aromas of a freshly baked blueberry pie,
succulent sultanas, creamy caramel and
Black Forest fruits. Followed by lasting
aromas of honey and ginger spice.
Palate:
Tangerines, coffee latte, hints of
cassis and lemon meringue pie. The red
wine casks bring a final burst of
berries and sweet damson plums. The
finish is pleasing with hints of
vanilla.
