Speyburn distillery was established in
1897 by John Hopkins & Company. When
production first started, the still
house had not yet been fitted with
windows or doors; and as a fierce
snowstorm was sweeping through the
valley the men had to work in overcoats.
This was because the distillers were
anxious to have some casks filled
bearing the date 1897, as this was Queen
Victoria's diamond jubilee year. Only
one butt was bonded.
Distilled
in the Speyside region, Speyburn
single malt whisky has all the
characteristics of a classic
Speyside malt. Speyburn is a medium
bodied single malt with quite a delicate
fruity character.
