Master of
Malt, which celebrates its 40th
anniversary this year is marking the
occasion with a relaunch of it
Independent Whisky Bottling's offerings
and for the first time the collection
will be available beyond its own
website, reaching whisky retailers and
multiple markets worldwide.

Master of Malt,
one of the UK’s most respected whisky
and spirits retailers and independent
whisky bottlers, has relaunched its
independent bottling whisky range. For the
first time in its history, the
collection will be available beyond its
own website, reaching retailers and
multiple markets worldwide.
The award-winning online drinks
retailer—celebrating its 40th
anniversary this year—has introduced a
new line of single cask and small-batch
spirits. This refreshed collection
is said to build on Master of Malt’s reputation
for bottling some of the world’s most characterful and remarkable spirits.
Unlike many in the industry, MoM's selections
are made not by algorithms or trend
data, but by a small team of passionate
whisky enthusiasts who only bottle what
they love to drink themselves.
The updated range features refined
branding and clearer tiering, from
everyday standouts to rare discoveries.
Highlights include a forthcoming
40-year-old Girvan grain
whisky—described by the team as
"absolute nectar"—as well as a
29-year-old Tobermory (RRP £199.95), a
16-year-old Dailuaine (£69.95), and a
selection of secret
Speyside
(reviewed here)
and
Highland single casks starting at
£34.95. True to Master of Malt’s
philosophy, all releases are
non-chill-filtered, free of added
colouring, and offer whisky drinkers great value.
They will be available through
distributors across Europe, Middle East,
India, Africa, Asia-Pacific and North
America, the range marks a major step in
Master of Malt’s global presence. With
more than 2,000 products released over
the past four decades—and a reputation
for innovating in weeks rather than
months—the team has ambitious plans
ahead. Upcoming launches include a
50-year-old Scotch, new-world ryes, and
experimental cask-aged spirits such as a
7-year-old cask-aged gin and cask-aged
coffee liqueurs.
Master of Malt: From Mail-Order
Beginnings to 40 Years of Innovation
Master of Malt’s story began in 1985 as
a mail-order independent bottler,
sending out monthly printed catalogues
and receiving handwritten order forms
and cheques days later. In the early
2000s, while studying for a master’s in
theoretical physics, Justin Petszaft—now
Managing Director of Atom Group, Master
of Malt’s parent company—built the
company’s first-ever website as a way to
sharpen his web design skills.
After a six-year partnership with AB
InBev’s ZX Ventures, Master of Malt is
once again fiercely independent and
proudly 100% founder-owned.

To mark its 40th anniversary, the
company is unveiling a refreshed range
of independent bottling's, alongside
special celebratory releases. Among them
is a playful new limited-edition series,
Badly Drawn Dogs, born from
light-hearted exchanges with Master of
Malt’s customers. Designed by in-house
customer service expert (and
moonlighting artist) Cal, the series
showcases standout drams including a
21-year-old Loch Lomond, 25-year-old
Invergordon, 27-year-old Strathclyde,
and secret English and German single
malts.
Each comes in a quirky 350 ml bottle,
priced from just £23, with labels
adorned with charmingly rough dog
sketches. Every purchase will also
support animal welfare, with donations
going to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home or
Dogs Trust.
Master of Malt’s new 40th anniversary
bottling's will be available globally
through retailers and distributors from
July 2025 and of course from
