Review of Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs
Inchgower 2002.
Gordon
& MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Inchgower
2002 was matured in Refill Sherry
hogsheads and bottled on the 6th May
2016 at 46% ABV.
The Gordon & MacPhail ‘Connoisseurs
Choice’ range was launched in the
mid-1960s’. Until this time, many of the
whiskies the range featured would not
have been available as single malt.
Today, Connoisseurs Choice retains this
exclusive nature with a range of rare
and sought after single malts from
distilleries throughout Scotland
including this Inchgower 2002 Speyside
single malt whisky.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A lovely enticing nose, sherried fruitcake
notes with orange, raisins, sultanas and
toffee and some very light spice.
Taste:
Dark cherry, plum, burnt sugar, orange,
a light sweet vanilla sweetness peaks
through from behind the lovely dark
fruit and a touch of cloves hiding there
also, a little ginger.
Finish:
Medium to long, rich dark sherried
mildly drying finish. Some spicy oaky
notes, coffee, a touch of liquorice.
Comment:
Some very good and quite lively refill sherry casks have been at
work here, hard to believe they were not
first fill sherry casks. I very much enjoyed this, a
delicious sherry rich mature Inchgower.
A lovely alternative dram for the
Speyside sherry lovers.
