Introducing
three new travel retail exclusive
Glenfiddich whiskies each produced using
Glenfiddich's innovative Solera Vat
process.
Glenfiddich have unveiled not one but
three new whiskies which will form their
new travel retail exclusive Glenfiddich
Cask Collection. The three exclusive
single malt Scotch whiskies have been
created using Glenfiddich’s innovative
Solera Vat process which they pioneered
back in 1998 to create the superb and
now very popular Glenfiddich 15 year
old.
The new travel retail Glenfiddich Cask Collection
consists of
Glenfiddich Select Cask,
Glenfiddich Reserve Cask and
the peaty
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask, with each expression in
the new collection having been crafted
to deliver its own distinct flavour
profile by Glenfiddich Malt Master,
Brian Kinsman.
The
characteristics of each of the three new
whiskies are a result of maturation in a
variety of oak casks followed by a
finish for at least 2 months in
Glenfiddich's pioneering Solera Vats,
it is bottled only when it is deemed ready by Glenfiddich's Malt
Master, Brian Kinsman. This innovatively unique
technique guarantees the continuity of
the whisky's flavour and taste by
ensuring that the vat is never less than
half full and is constantly replenished.
As you can see in the video Glenfiddich
have constructed three new Solera Vats
in Warehouse 8 at the Glenfiddich
distillery in Dufftown, one for each of
the three new whiskies in the
Glenfiddich Cask Collection. The three
new vats will be used exclusively to
create the three whiskies in the new
collection which will eventually replace
the Glenfiddich 12, 15 and 18 year old
on the shelves of travel retail shops,
so if you want to taste the new whiskies you had
better dust off your passport.

three new Glenfiddich Cask Collection
expressions:
Glenfiddich Select Cask:
Matured
in hand-selected aged Bourbon, European
oak and red wine casks, then finished
for at least 2 months in the Select Cask
Solera Vat. 1 litre bottle, bottled at
40% ABV. RRP: £40.00
Glenfiddich Reserve Cask:
Matured
in distinctive Spanish sherry casks,
then finished for at least 2 months in
the Reserve Cask Solera Vat. 1 litre
bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. RRP: £50.00
Glenfiddich Vintage Cask:
Spirit produced using peated barley then
matured in European oak and American
Bourbon casks. 70cl bottle, bottled at
40% ABV. RRP: £80.00
To read my review of the three new

can tell you they are three quality new
whiskies from Glenfiddich. You may have
noticed that I haven't mentioned the age
of any of the three new whiskies, that
is because none of them carry an age
statement but I can say having tasted
them the absent age statement doesn't
matter to the taste as there is
absolutely no sign of youth, quite the
opposite.
The Glenfiddich Select Cask has a lovely
balance of delicate vanilla, barley
sweetness, candied fruit and oak spice.
The Glenfiddich Reserve Cask is
deliciously smooth, sweet and spicier
with each mouthful. The Glenfiddich
Vintage Cask has the fruity sweet
Glenfiddich notes we know and love but
coated in a lovely unique smokiness.
I will predict that these will be very
popular indeed and it is a pity that you
will need a passport to get hold of
them. Definitely three whiskies to watch
for next time you are passing through
the airport.
