The rich
sherried GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival
returns after a 3 year absence.
The GlenDronach fans amongst you will
be pleased to hear that the distillery
has announced that the once revered rich
sherry cask matured GlenDronach 15 Year
Old Revival is making a return.
The original 15 year old sherry cask
matured expression was introduced by The
GlenDronach in the 1990s, bottled at 40%
ABV. It ceased to be bottled until 2009,
when The GlenDronach Revival Aged 15
Years was released at 46% ABV to the
great pleasure of whisky fans including
myself.
Having built up such a strong reputation
as one of the very finest sherry cask
matured malts, it was sadly discontinued
in 2015 due to maturing stock levels, a
victim of its own success I suppose.
Happily, following a three year wait,
The GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival is
making a return, bottled at 46% ABV, non
chill filtered and of natural cask
colour. The 2018 release has already
been awarded the highest possible
accolade of Double Gold at San Francisco
World Spirits Competition which is a
good indication that fans of the whisky
will not be disappointed.
The GlenDronach Master Blender Rachel
Barrie commented on the GlenDronach 15
return, saying: "Today marks the return
of The GlenDronach Revival Aged 15
years, an iconic aged expression of
critical acclaim, revered by
connoisseurs around the globe. After
years of slumber, this relaunched
expression embodies The GlenDronach
signature style of Spanish Oak
maturation in fine Pedro Ximénez and
Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía.
Over 15 years in the darkness of our
dunnage warehouses, the spirit has grown
in stature, refinement and intensity.
The GlenDronach 15 year old Revival has
an exquisite balance of intensity and
finesse. In flavour, intense notes of
ripe dark fruits and manuka honey
envelope into an elegant silk-velvet
chocolate finish, reflecting the richly
layered complexity of this iconic single
malt."
The GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival will
have a RRP of £62 and will initially
only be available for the next four
weeks from the GlenDronach Distillery
shop and thereafter it will be released
globally and will be available from
specialist online whisky retailers such
as The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop
and
Master of
Malt
Here's hoping it is as good as it ever
was, I will certainly update you when I
get a chance to taste it myself.

GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival
Review
|
Review added 28th September 2018.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Butterscotch, dark cherry and
blackberries, orange and a little
nuttiness lurking in the background.
Taste:
The delicious dried sweet sherried
fruits lead, raisins and sultanas are
joined by some slightly zesty orange,
creamy dark chocolate, a little cinnamon
and pepper make a late appearance. Some
mild oak spice and ginger hanging around
in the background.
Finish:
A deliciously long finish, the dried
sweet sherried fruits just cling to the
mouth for an age, eventually bowing out
leaving some lovely peppery sweet oak
spice.
Comment:
An absolutely delicious sherried
Speyside dram. I can say the same about
this new GlenDronach 15 expression as I
said about the GlenDronach 12 year old,
simply one of the best quality core
range sherried Speyside drams for its
age that you can buy, if you haven't yet
tried this, now is your chance as it has
been revived once again and will be in
shops around the end of this month. For
those of you familiar with it before it
disappeared from the shelves due to
depleted maturing stock levels I can
tell you that it is still the once
revered rich sherry cask matured
GlenDronach it was known to be.

93/100
