Glen Moray was a brewery which was
transformed into a whisky distillery in
1897 by the Glen Moray Glenlivet
Distillery Company. The distillery
closed in 1910 and after a brief
reopening in 1912, Glen Moray didn't go
back into production until 1923, when it
was acquired by the owners of
Glenmorangie. Since then the only time
the distillery has been closed was
during World War II, due to the shortage
of barley. In 1958 a Saladin Box was
installed which was in use up to 1977
and the stills where increased from 2 to
4. Its sister distillery Glen Morangie
may be better known but Glen Moray is
gaining its own reputation. Glen Moray
is a component of the Queen Anne blend.

Glen Moray Tasting Notes
|
Glen Moray
12 Year Old Single Malt.
Colour:
Mid-golden.
Nose:
Sweet, fruity and floral. Highland
toffee and candy floss with honeycomb
and sweet malt notes.
Taste:
Smooth, warming and rounded with a good
firm body. Lots of sweet, soft malty
flavours evolve in the centre of the
palate, surrounded by toffee and mouth
watering fruits.
Finish:
Toffee, blackcurrants and a hint of
liquorice remains into the finish which
is medium in length. |
Glen Moray
12 Year Old Single Malt.
Submitted By
Brent Chezenko, Canada.
Colour:
Light.
Nose:
Sweet Floral.
Taste:
Sweet, dried fruit, fruit cake.
Finish:
Well balanced, easy and a very smooth
and pleasant tasting malt.
Comment:
By far the best single malt Scotch. Easy
drinking yet explodes with flavour. A
real winner. I have been trying to get
this Scotch imported into Canada. I hope
this happens.
