A few new bottlings from the Bruichladdich distillery:

Octomore 5 169
The world's peatiest whisky just got peatier. Octomore 5 peated to an extraordinary 169 PPM is the fifth release in the series is now on shelves in whisky shops. The most highly-peated whisky ever - now peated to 169ppm. A limited edition of only 18,000 numbered bottles worldwide. It was bottled in 2012 aged 5 years at a cask strength of 59.5% ABV, non-chill-filtered and colouring free. Priced around £95.00 More about it here:

Octomore 10 Year Old
The world's peatiest whisky comes of age. Octomore 10 year old is a landmark and highly limited release of the cult Islay spirit and for the first time at 10 aged years. This is a a prelude to an ongoing 10 year old Octomore, this expression is peated to 80.5ppm and bottled at 50% ABV and of course non-chill-filtered and natural colour.

Port Charlotte 10 Year Old
This release of Port Charlotte 10 year old is a milestone for the Bruichladdich distillery, rather than just a limited edition the Port Charlotte 10 year old joins the core range of whiskies from the Bruichladdich distillery and is here to stay. It is heavily peated to 40 PPM, non-chill-filtered, natural colour and bottled at 46% ABV.

Great to see a core range Port Charlotte 10 year old, i wonder what the price will be on it, hopefully a sensible price and if so i predict i will be a regular purchaser. Same goes for the Octomore 10 and i wonder how long it will be before we see it in the core range.

I would guess that the Port Charlotte 10 wont be far removed from the Port Charlotte Peat Project which they released not too long ago, although the Peat Project didnt carry an age statement i would guess the 10 year old will be quite similar in taste and price which was around £33 i think.

William, I could certainly go for this one but I don't expect it will be available in Canada anytime soon. Sad

The PC10 is £80 Confused
The PC10 was released around March/April 2012 as part of the PC series and was a limited release of around 6000 bottles and bottled at 59.8%.

Bottled at a tamer 46% and now part of the Bruichladdich core range of whiskies i would expect it to be priced around £30 - £35, i hope it has a sensible price.

Obviously i havent tasted it yet but i have high hopes for it given the PC bottlings i have tasted, it does seem like Bruichladdich are starting to put together an impressive core range.

There is a good chance that you will get it in Canada as i know previous Octomore bottlings were available at the LCBO, just had a quick look and they still list the Octomore 4th release on the LCBO web site priced $199 not sure if that includes tax

Totally agree Alastair, it does seem like after years of countless limited releases and cask finishes Bruichladdich is coming of age and they seem to know what the market wants. I can see the Port Charlotte 10 being very popular if it has a decent price tag.

Excellent news about the Port Charlotte and Octomore 10 to come, great to have another big peated Islay to choose from that hopefully will be a decent affordable everyday drinking price.

Phew, glad to be wrong! Is it likely to be £30-35 though, given the NAS Peat Project is ~£35?

I hope so and i would think it will be as that should be the right price range for a core range bottle of this age.

Looking forward to the Port Charlotte 10, i have a bottle of the Peat Project and it is excellent and i would think the 10 year old will be just as good.

Good to hear there will be an an ongoing 10 year old Octomore bottling hopefully at a drinkable price.

So much for the drinkable price of the Octomore 10. I have seen it in the Netherlands where I live for Euro 210 (pre-order). Much likely it will be sold in the UK for around 180 pounds or more.

And I thought the clowns at Diageo had ridiculous prices for the latest releases. What will be next; 300 pounds for a 3 year old whisky?
