Bladnoch Lowland region distillery was
established in 1817 by the McClelland family.
It was taken over by the company T & A McClelland and Co in 1878.
The distillery has had a few owners since 1930 had has been closed more than a
few times. It was finally reopened in
1956 under the name of Bladnoch Distillery Ltd.
Then again went through various owners
including Inver House Distillers Ltd between 1973 and 1983, before closing its doors again for 2 years. After this last closing, it
was acquired by Arthur Bell & Sons who
modernised the distillery. Eventually it
was owned by United Distillers, who then
mothballed it in 1993. One year later it
was acquired by an Irish businessman.
The visitor
centre was
opened in 1998 and to the joy of whisky
lovers worldwide the distillery reopened
in 2000 but only producing a limited
amount of this outstanding malt at
present. But if you shop around you can
find it and hopefully it will be
available for many years to come.

Bladnoch Tasting Notes
|
 Bladnoch 15 Year Old Sheep Label.
Colour: Deep yellow.
Nose: aromatic, firm, rich. Apricot,
citrus fruits. Pepper, Butter toffee.
Slightly medicinal
Taste: Smooth, oily. Grassy, lemony.
Fruity - apple, pear. White flowers, cut
grass.
Finish: Lingering, liquorice. Hints of
melon, red fruits - raspberry,
strawberry. Citrus.
Bladnoch 10 Year Old Flora
& Fauna Series.
Colour: Deep amber.
Nose: Subtle, fruity with a hint of
malt.
Taste: Fresh, slightly sweet citrus
fruits - orange.
Finish: Average length, sandal wood.
