Review of the
GlenDronach 2006 Cask No.1979 11 Year
Old.
 The
GlenDronach 2006 Cask No.1979 11 Year
old is one of 15 new limited edition
whiskies in Batch 16 of GlenDronach's
popular Single Cask series of whiskies.
The youngest whisky in this latest batch
of releases, it was fully matured in a
Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon and it was
judged by GlenDronach Master Blender,
Rachel Barrie, to be good enough even at
the tender age of 11 year old, to be
included in this latest batch of single
cask releases.
Non chill-filtered and natural colour
this PX sherry cask matured whisky was bottled at
57.2%
ABV, it is a limited release of 679
bottles and will be available from specialist whisky shops such as
Master of Malt while stocks last.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
A lovely sweet mix of toasty vanilla,
cinnamon, dark chocolate, coffee and big
sherried fruitcake notes.
Taste:
Deliciously rich and vibrant. Burnt
raisins, dark chocolate orange coated
treacle toffee, some cherry, a touch of zesty lemon, cinnamon, some
lovely oak spice and
ginger
hanging around in the background.
Finish:
A long lingering finish, sweet treacle
toffee gives way to coffee and mildly
drying oak spice.
Comment:
In my experience PX matured whiskies
tend to be very good with younger
whiskies and this is no exception.
I would say that its younger age in comparison to the
other PX matured single cask in this Batch 16
release is what makes this stand out
above some of the more mature releases
in this batch. It is young, vibrant and
very enjoyable and very worthy of its
place in this latest line up of Single
Cask whiskies from the GlenDronach.
Given its price in comparison to others
in this release I would recommend that
you grab a bottle of this while you have
the chance.
