Whisky Focus - GlenDronach Single Cask Batch 16

The GlenDronach Distillery has announced the release of the GlenDronach Single Cask Batch 16, 15 single cask whiskies ranging from 11 to 28 years old, and distilled between 1989 and 2006.

This is the GlenDronach's Master Blender Rachel Barrie's 2nd selection of single casks since taking the reigns at the distillery and just by the size of this release alone I am sure she has made more than a few whisky connoisseurs happy. Rachel has hand selected 14 sherry cask matured single casks, and rather unusually, one Port Pipe matured whisky which should give GlenDronach fans something a little different to explore.

Rachel commented on this latest batch of single cask whiskies, saying: "Each cask individually demonstrates the finesse, powerful complexity and rich layers of sherry cask maturation found in every GlenDronach expression; from the 28-year-old Sherry butt distilled in November 1989 with the robust, mellow maturity of rich fruitcake and smoked walnut, to the 22 year old PX puncheon distilled in June 1995 with sweet treacle toffee and manuka honey. At the other end of the age spectrum, the 11-year-old PX distilled in January 2006 balances sweet and dry complexity as nutmegspiced bramble toffee bursts on a velvet wave of cocoa."

All 15 casks will be available for purchase in the UK. In Europe, Casks 5476, 1014, 103, 334, 445, 4038, 3342 and 1979 will be available for purchase. In Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada Casks 7003, 7902, 127, 55, 3311, 4648 and 1451 will be available for purchase.

Of course all casks will be available to purchase from UK based online retailers such as Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange but I doubt they will be available for long so dont hang around.
