Review of the
BenRiach 1992 Cask No. 979 25 Year Old.
The
BenRiach 1992 Cask No. 979 25 Year Old is one of 17 new limited edition
whiskies in Batch 15 of BenRiach's
popular Single Cask series of whiskies.
Distilled on 19th February 1992 and fully matured in a Port
Hogshead cask it was selected by
BenRiach
Master Blender, Rachel Barrie as part of
this latest batch of single cask
releases.
Non chill-filtered and natural colour
this Port cask matured whisky was
bottled at 53.9% ABV, it is a limited
release of 275 bottles and will be
available from specialist whisky shops
such as The Whisky Exchange
and
Master of Malt while stocks last.
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Sweet malt, candied orange, a touch of
nutmeg and almonds.
Taste:
Chewy toffee, a big fresh and slightly
zesty orange, lemon and raisiny fruitiness,
a lovely mature vanilla oakiness
and a bit of spice.
Finish:
A delicious long lingering raisin sweet
fruity finish slowly fading into a
mildly drying nutty oakiness.
Comment:
BenRiach do like to offer whisky
drinkers something off the normal beaten
track and you don't come across many 25
year old whiskies which has been fully
matured in a Port Hogshead cask and this
is probably as good an example as you
will find at this age.

90/100
