Young Spirits announce the appointment of Barbara Russell Scott, its former Director of Operations, to Managing Director.

In whisky business news Edinburgh based 'Young Spirits', a next-generation spirits bottling and brand development company, has promoted Barbara Russell Scott, its former Director of Operations, to Managing Director.

In her new role, Barbara will head the senior management team, steering the five-year-old business through an ambitious growth strategy. This plan will capitalise on the company's award-winning services and its expanding portfolio of owned spirits.

With over 30 years of experience in global supply chain and operations management in the drinks industry, Barbara joined Young Spirits in 2023 as Director of Operations. During her tenure, she has led the company’s operational strategy, ensuring site efficiency and driving long-term growth through a focus on brand and service enhancement.

As Managing Director, Barbara will concentrate on scaling Young Spirits’ services, nurturing its skilled workforce, and furthering the company's dedication to operational excellence, customer service, sustainability, and cutting-edge innovation.

Young Spirits was founded in 2019 by entrepreneurs and spirits enthusiasts John Ferguson and Alex Harrison. The company was established as a forward-thinking, sustainable partner for the spirits industry, specialising in product development and branding projects for clients of all sizes. From exclusive, ultra-premium private bottling's to large-scale commissions for global brands, each client benefits from the dedicated support of an Account Manager.

In addition to its core services, Young Spirits is also developing a thriving portfolio of its own brands. This includes Ferg & Harris, a luxury single malt whisky brand which they launched in 2022, it pairs exceptional whiskies with unique wood finishes to create a truly distinctive dram. Another standout is Uhuru, a brand with a purpose, donating 10 percent of its profits to African conservation initiatives through a partnership with the charity Tusk. Young Spirits also brings expertise in cask and bulk trading to its range of services.
