Having been a
driving force in travel retail over some
tough times for the industry in the past
few years Whyte & Mackay returns to
Cannes to build on stunning growth with
new Travel Retail Exclusives from Jura
and Tamnavulin.
Whyte & Mackay is returning to the TFWA
World Exhibition in Cannes this year
with a remarkable record of growth. The
aim is to reaffirm its dominant position
in the Single Malt category and
introduce exciting innovations that will
further boost market penetration and
spending for its retail partners.
With its exceptional Single Malt
portfolio, featuring The Dalmore, Jura,
Fettercairn, and Tamnavulin, Whyte &
Mackay has emerged as the
fastest-growing Single Malt owner from
2019 to 2022, across both domestic and
Global Travel Retail channels according
to IWSR data. Despite the challenges
posed by the pandemic, Whyte & Mackay
continued to support its retail partners
and the Global Travel Retail channel. As
shoppers return, the company is driving
recovery with a portfolio that outpaces
category growth at every price tier
based on IWSR insights.
As a specialist in Single Malt Scotch
Whisky, Whyte & Mackay is
well-positioned to assist retail
partners with a category growth strategy
deeply rooted in consumer and shopper
insights. This strategy enables the
crafting of tailored plans for each
location, overcoming barriers to
spending, driving foot traffic and
conversions, and enticing shoppers to
trade up.
The key to this growth strategy lies in
the company's exquisite brand portfolio,
which appeals to a wide range of whisky
enthusiasts and whisky gift buyers. In
the Global Travel Retail sector, Whyte &
Mackay's Tamnavulin and Jura brands were
the fastest-growing Single Malt brands
in 2022 (IWSR 2022 vs. 2019).
Additionally, in the Prestige Plus
segment, crucial for spending in the
Asia Pacific market, The Dalmore and
Fettercairn are outperforming the
category by 24% (IWSR).
At the TFWA World Exhibition, Whyte &
Mackay is set to unveil Jura Islanders’
Expressions No.3, the latest Travel
Retail Exclusive Limited Edition in the
highly successful Jura Islanders’
Expressions line. This new release is
expected to replicate the success of its
award-winning predecessors by offering
an inspiring and engaging product that
drives penetration, conversion, and
spending.
Jura Islanders’ Expressions No.3
perfectly caters to the modern
travelling shopper's desire for novelty
and brands with compelling stories and
purposes. Crafted in collaboration with
the island’s resident photographer,
Konrad Borkowski, this Travel Retail
Exclusive features dynamic photography
that reflects the magic of life on Jura.
With a red wine cask finish and a juicy
fruit character inspired by powerful
sunset landscapes, this expression
continues to emphasize that Jura is
'More Than A Whisky'. It embodies the
spirit of the island's 230 inhabitants,
offering consumers a chance to be part
of something special and taste the
essence of island life in every sip.
This focus on supporting the island
community aligns with shoppers’ demand
for brands that uphold modern-world
ideals.
The first edition of Islanders’
Expressions was the fastest-growing
Single Malt expression in GTR in 2022 (IWSR
2022), and Jura Islanders’ Expressions
No.3 is poised to follow in its
footsteps. It will be available in
Europe from April 2024 with an RRP of
£49.99.
Another exciting addition to the Whyte &
Mackay offering is the Tamnavulin
Sauvignon Blanc, a new Travel Retail
Exclusive. Tamnavulin's rich, smooth,
and mellow classic Speyside Single Malt
style boasts an exceptionally
approachable flavour profile.
Tamnavulin's travel retail exclusives
have been drivers of growth in the Malt
category, attracting new shoppers and
encouraging others to upgrade from
blends to Single Malts.
This new Tamnavulin expression for
Global Travel Retail continues this
trend, providing retailers with a
product that generates more spending per
passenger and offers duty-free shoppers
more choice through its rich flavor
experience and affordable price. Matured
in American White Oak barrels, Sauvignon
Blanc White Wine Casks, and Semillon
White Wine Casks, Tamnavulin Sauvignon
Blanc completes the Tamnavulin Travel
Retail Exclusive Collection, with
options for red wine, sherry, and white
wine finishes. This positions the brand
perfectly to entice both wine lovers and
classic Sherry Cask aficionados to try
something new. Tamnavulin Sauvignon
Blanc is set to hit the shelves in
Europe from April 2024 with an RRP of
£39.99.
