The Guard Bridge A New Blended Malt From Eden Mill

21st August 2023
Eden Mill distillery in St Andrews launch The Guard Bridge, a blended malt containing a mix of Eden Mill Single malts and single malts hailing from both the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland.

The Guard Bridge Blended Malt From Eden MillEden Mill distillery, located in St Andrews, has unveiled its latest creation in the world of Scotch whisky: The Guard Bridge, a finely crafted Blended Malt.

This blended malt Scotch whisky boasts a natural colour and remains unaltered by chill filtration. The whisky is a blend of cherished Eden Mill single malt and a thoughtfully curated collection of single malts hailing from both the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland.

Crafted under the watchful eye of Eden Mill’s Head Distiller, Scott Ferguson, this unique fusion of aged single malts is said to showcase a harmonious interplay of diverse and complementary flavours. The result is a testament to the careful sourcing and nurturing process, resulting in a refined spirit which has been bottled at what should be a flavoursome strength of 46% ABV.

Scott said, "Our Blended Malt features the delicate, grassy and floral flavour characteristics of the Lowland single malts, combined with the robust, barley-sweet and dried fruit notes of the Highland single malts, to create a whisky that showcases the best of both regions.

"This Blended Malt contains at least ten single malts from across Scotland – one of which has been aged for over eight years – blended and married together and finished in ex-Eden Mill single malt casks – specifically ex-bourbon casks – to create an exciting, versatile new whisky of which we are incredibly proud."

The whisky's name itself, The Guard Bridge, draws inspiration from the historic 15th-century Guard Bridge that linked St Andrews to its former trading hub, Guardbridge. The packaging design takes cues from the mesmerising play of colours found in the Eden Estuary's tidal currents, with a palette of blues and teals. This estuary serves as the home for Eden Mill's new distillery and visitor centre, a place where the brand will continue its tradition of crafting exceptional single malts and premium gins.

The bottle label's central incision mirrors the meandering course of the River Eden as it gracefully navigates through the Fife region, passing by Guardbridge en route to its destination in St Andrews.

The Guard Bridge has a RRP of £45 and will be available from Eden Mill's online shop.
