The English
Distillery add a Sherry Cask single malt
to their core range.
 The English Distillery has announced the
release of 'The English Sherry Cask',
its inaugural sherry-matured single malt
release into the core range. This
landmark addition underscores the
commitment of England's oldest
registered whisky distillery to craft
the England's finest single malt
whiskies and share them with enthusiasts
across the globe.
Hand-bottled at their Norfolk
distillery, The English Sherry Cask is
an unpeated single malt whisky that has
undergone a complete maturation journey
within PX sherry casks, resulting in a
what the distillery says is a
long-awaited and extraordinary
expression.
Described as having aromas of luscious
dark fruits, imparted by the
sherry-infused casks, meld with notes of
raw honey and vanilla, leading to a
palate sensation characterized by sweet
toffee, cherries, and digestive
biscuits. The outcome is a meticulously
balanced and luxuriously rich whisky,
with the wood influence elegantly
complementing the overall profile.
With an alcohol strength of 46% ABV, no
chill filtration and naturally coloured,
this no age statement whisky now joins
"The English Original" and "The English
Smokey" to elevate the distillery's core
range.
Established in 2006 by farmer James
Nelstrop, who sought to fulfil a
lifelong dream, the distillery embarked
on its whisky-making journey under the
expert guidance of the renowned Master
Distiller Ian Henderson. In their
dunnage warehouses, they began laying
down whiskies with a singular mission:
to produce world-class single malt
whisky. The whisky is crafted using
locally sourced barley, including that
from the Nelstrop family farms. Every
facet of the distillation process, from
milling and mashing to distillation in
traditional copper stills, maturation in
premium oak casks, and meticulous hand
bottling, takes place within the
distillery itself.
"After a mere 17 years of distilling, we
finally have just enough stock to add a
Sherry cask matured single malt whisky
to our core range," explains Chairman
Andrew Nelstrop, James’ son, part of a
20 strong team at the picturesque
distillery in the Norfolk district of
Breckland.
"This is a momentous step for the
distillery and a big milestone as we
continue to demonstrate the skill of our
distillers and the depth of our maturing
stock."
The English Sherry Cask has a RRP of
£60, the new addition will sit alongside
The English Original and Smokey (RRP:
£47.50 each) all of which will be available from specialist online whisky
