Tamdhu Distillery Manager’s Single Cask the ‘World’s Best Single Cask, Single Malt Whisky’.Offering some light relief to whisky fans and the drinks community in these uncertain times the folks at the World Whiskies Awards ploughed on with the 2020 competition via their official social channels last week were they crowned the Tamdhu Distillery Manager’s Single Cask the ‘World’s Best Single Cask, Single Malt Whisky’.

The Tamdhu distillery had a strong showing in Round One before coming out on top last week with their Tamdhu Distillery Manager’s Single Cask.

Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, said: "To receive this sort of recognition from the esteemed panel at the World Whiskies Awards is truly special. I would like to thank the entire team at the WWA for hosting the event online - during such uncertain times, it was a moment of relief and celebration for the entire whisky community.

"I’m always delighted to see the craft of Tamdhu given the credit it is due, and it fills me with pride to know that people have enjoyed the cask that I selected. But despite having my name on it, any award that Tamdhu wins is an award won by the entire team at the distillery, so I would also like to pay tribute to each and every one of them."

On the nose, the Tamdhu Distillery Manager’s Single Cask delivers bursts of fresh raspberries and citrus fruits which are balanced by hints of banana and clotted cream. A smooth, creamy palate reveals cinnamon and cocoa nib flavours followed by a long, rich finish with sherry, brown sugar and a whisper of vanilla.

Sandy, who was crowned Distillery Manager of the Year in Whisky Magazine’s ‘Icons of Whisky Scotland 2019’ awards, hand-selected a first fill American oak sherry butt for his award-winning single cask vintage.

As well as scooping the coveted ‘World’s Best Single Cask, Single Malt Whisky’, Tamdhu also secured a ‘Category Winner’ commendation for its Edinburgh Airport Sherry Oak Single Cask, as well as two Gold commendations in the ‘Single Malt Scotch Speyside’ category for Batch Strength No. 004 and Dalbeallie II in the ‘No Age Statement’ division.

You will find the current Tamdhu whisky range available from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt
