Tamdhu
distillery reveal the next instalment of
their big sherried cask strength
Collectors Journey series, the Tamdhu
Dalbeallie Dram 3.
Back in 2018 Tamdhu distillery launched
the first bottling in its Collectors
Journey series of annual limited edition
Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival
bottlings, Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram,
unfortunately due to the COVID-19
pandemic the Spirit of Speyside festival
was cancelled this year but the good
news for Tamdhu whisky fans is that the
distillery has announced that they will
still be releasing the next instalment
in their big sherried, cask strength
series, the Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram No.
3.
Matured in a combination of European and
American Oak Oloroso sherry seasoned
casks from the cooperages and bodegas of
Jerez, Spain, each of the 1000 bottles
of Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram 3 is
individually numbered and bottled at a
cask strength of 60.7% ABV, non-chillfiltered
and just like every bottle of Tamdhu it
is naturally coloured.
Described by Tamdhu as: "balanced and
creamy, with hints of banana and lime,
toasted marshmallow and spiced bread and
butter pudding on the nose. The
mouthfeel is luxurious, thick and syrupy
on the palate, oozing with vanilla,
dried fruits and soft spice, with gentle
waves of oak. And building sherry notes
join with the oak and sweet liquorice to
give Dalbeallie Dram 003 a velvety and
pleasingly dry finish".
The name of the whisky, "Dalbeallie Dram" is a nod to
Dalbeallie train station, which closed
in 1965, and the part the Victorian
railway played in transporting Tamdhu's
sherry oak casks from Spain. In recent
years, Tamdhu has restored the station
to its full splendour, including the
waiting room and signal box, making it
now a beloved landmark for walkers on
the Speyside Way and the perfect setting
to host events and visitors from all
over the world.
As I said the Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram is
normally revealed during the Spirit of
Speyside festival and as you will be
well aware organisers were forced to
cancel this year’s event due to the
ongoing threat of COVID-19. So, to make
up for the cancellation the distillery
decided to give would-be attendees and
Tamdhu Club members exclusive, pre-sale
access to buy their bottle of Dalbeallie
Dram 003 ahead of general release.
Priced at £90 the Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram
3 is available to pre-order from the
Tamdhu website.
If you want to explore the current
Tamdhu whisky range you will find it
available from specialist
online whisky retailers such as
