1999 two brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir
Singh started their company Speciality
Drinks Ltd followed by their online shop
The Whisky Exchange.
Since 2005 they have offered their own
ranges of independent whisky bottlings.
Today their ranges includes "The Single
Malts of Scotland" range, "Elements of
Islay" range and their Islay malt range
"Port Askaig".
Over the years The
Whisky Exchange has been acquiring top
quality casks of maturing single malt
whisky. Since 2005 they have been
releasing these whiskies for sale on the
The Whisky Exchange website as ‘The Single Malts of
Scotland’ range.
The bottlings in The Single Malts of
Scotland range come from all the
regions of Scotland and have ranged in
age from ten to forty years old. The
majority of their releases are from
single casks of malt whisky, bottled at
their natural cask strength, however due
to public demand we are now doing some
small batch releases and 46% bottlings
as well.
The Single Malts of Scotland are always
bottled at their natural colour without
any additives and are not
chill-filtered. These hand-picked malts
have been extremely popular and
successful, with several bottlings
picking up awards and critical acclaim.
The Elements range draws its inspiration
from traditional medical laboratory
labels and packaging – even the bottle
they’ve used is called "pharmacy".
The Elements range is bottled in
individual batches, typically blended
from between 5 and 20 casks from a
single distillery. Each bottle will show
the distillery’s "Element" symbol
alongside a batch number on the label
(e.g. Lp1).
The Port Askaig range has been developed
to appeal to the novice whisky drinker,
while meeting the demands of the most
discerning of whisky connoisseurs.
Sukhinder Singh, one of the UK’s most
respected whisky experts, has selected
what he considers to be the most
perfectly balanced Islay single malt and
created a range that he believes will
become recognised as a true Islay
classic.
Each expression within the Port Askaig
range, from the youthful yet powerful
Cask Strength to the perfectly-balanced
17 year old and the elegant and refined
25 Year Old, is bottled in limited
batches expected to last approximately
one year. While recognising that each
bottling will vary, the aim is to
achieve a consistency of quality and
character over time. To ensure each
whisky maintains its original flavour
and character, the whiskies are not
chill-filtered and no colouring is
added.
