SMWS London Whisky Event Showcases Scotland's Five Regions

30th April 2026
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society are offering London whisky fans, including non-members, the chance to explore Scotland's Five Whisky Regions at a special tasting experience on 16th May at their Greville Street venue.

London's whisky enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to this May. With World Whisky Day on 16 May and festival season underway across Scotland, there’s no need to leave the capital to join in—thanks to a special tasting experience hosted by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

While many fans head to famous whisky destinations like Speyside, Campbeltown, and Islay, Londoners can explore all five Scottish whisky regions in one place on 12 May.

Held at the Society’s Greville Street venue, the event will feature tastings from Campbeltown, Speyside, Islay, Lowlands, and Highlands. Guests will sample and compare each, guided by the question, "what comes first, flavour or region?" Attendees are invited to decide for themselves which matters more when choosing the ideal dram.

Usually reserved for members, the venue will open its doors to non-members for this occasion, offering a rare glimpse inside the Society. Tickets are priced at £50 for all guests.

The tasting coincides with the release of 17 new bottles representing the five regions, alongside "The Five Regions" (£74), an 11 Year Old blended malt drawing from each area.

Simone Malavolta, Manager of the Society’s London venue, 19 Greville Street, said: "May is an important month for whisky, and we wanted to honour the festivals by showcasing the incredible breadth of whisky produced by the five whisky regions of Scotland.

"We want to explore the interaction between flavour and region, which can often be surprising, but we’re not here to say whether region or flavour should come first when picking a whisky – that is up to members to decide!"

Founded in Edinburgh in 1983, with a second venue in Glasgow opened in 2020, the Society has long prioritised flavour over convention—eschewing distillery names in favour of imaginative descriptors like "Red wine and brine in the old coal mine" and "Lavender honey and chimney lobsters" to capture each whisky's character.

"The Five Regions of Scotland" takes place on Tuesday, 12 May at 6:30pm at 19 Greville Street. Tickets are available online f
