Ahead of the
delayed Euro 2020 competition here is
the official Scotland Football Team
Whisky line-up - Bowmore 22 Year Old,
Glen Elgin 20 Year Old, Scottish
National Team Scotch Blended Malt Whisky
and Blended Whisky.

As
the Scotland national football team gets
down to some serious preparations for
the delayed Euro 2020 competition with a
friendly against the Netherlands in the
Algarve, Portugal tonight, the Scottish whisky fans
amongst you may be interested in getting
yourselves kitted out with a special
edition official Scotland national
football team
whisky from Gleann Mòr Spirits.
Edinburgh based independent bottler,
Gleann Mòr Spirits, has bottled four
whiskies in partnership with the
Scottish national football team which mark
Scotland’s reappearance for the first
time in 23 years at a major
football tournament, the World Cup 1998
was Scotland's last major football
tournament, 23 years has certainly been a long
wait for us Scottish football fans to
say the least but hopefully we will have
something to toast in the coming weeks
with the new official Scotland football
team whiskies.
Three of the official Scotland football
team whisky line-up are currently
available to order online from the Gleann Mòr
Spirits website and the star of the
official Scotland whisky line-up is a
Bowmore 22 year old which is available
to pre-order.
The four official Scotland football team
whiskies are:
- Scottish National Team Scotch
Blended Whiskysky
Without giving away too much of
their team secrets Gleann Mòr tells
me that this is a blend of Highland
and Islay single malt whiskies
combined with Scotch grain whisky,
they describe it as a winning
combination of strength and style,
with warming tones of toffee,
vanilla, pears and spiced oak. Non
chill filtered and naturally
coloured and it has a very drinkable
price tag of £25 for a 70cl bottle.
- Scottish National Team Scotch
Blended Malt Whisky
This is a mix of 100% Speyside
single malts, described as rich in
lemon shortbread, dried fruit and
toasted oak flavours. Non chill
filtered and naturally coloured it
has a price tag of £39 for a 70cl
bottle.
- Glen Elgin 20 Year Old Scotch
Single Malt Single Cask No. 2842
Lining up at the heart of the Scotch
whisky team of Rare Find superstars
is this 20 year old of prodigious
talent, it is described as a smooth
and classy dram combining sweetly
satisfying Scottish honey, warm
spice and butter toffee. Matured in
a refill bourbon cask, non chill
filtered and naturally coloured it
has been bottled at 50.6% ABV. It
has a price tag of £75 for a 70cl
bottle which is a decent price for a
mature dram of this age.
- Bowmore 22 Year Old Scotch
Single Malt Single Cask No. 353892892
This limited edition Bowmore single
cask is billed as the star of the
Scotland whisky team line-up. This
golden dram was first filled into
refill sherry Cask No. 353892 on 24
June 1998, the day after Scotland's
final fixture of the World Cup
against Morocco, a painful 3-0
defeat in St Etienne, France. After
decades of hurt, it will now be
bottled the day before Scotland’s
opening fixture of Euro 2020 against
the Czech Republic on 14 June 2021
at Hampden Park, Glasgow.
Described as big, bold and salty on
the nose with a hint of sweet
autumnal peat and baked apples in
the mouth, the sweet peat develops
into a sugary cereal layer with a
softly spice, gentle ash and a
dulcet phenolic finish.
It will be bottled non chill
filtered and naturally coloured at
52.7% ABV. Only 280 individually
numbered bottles will be made
available, giving Scottish football
& whisky fans an opportunity to own
a unique piece of Scottish
footballing history. It is currently
available to pre-order for £499 so
you will need deep pockets if you
want to celebrate Scotland's wins
with this one.
You will find all four of the
official Scotland football team whisky
line-up available to order online from
the Gleann Mòr Spirits website and they
are offering free delivery for orders
over £50 and who knows, hopefully a few
bottles will be opened on the 18th June
to toast our victory over the auld enemy
at Wembley, of course if you are an English
Scotch whisky fan feel free to buy a
bottle to drown your sorrows on the 18th
June.
