Douglas Laing
unveils Scallywag Winter Edition 2023,
the fourth annual limited release of
their cask strength, 100% sherry cask
matured Speyside region blended malt
whisky.
 As
summer fades into a distant memory
Douglas Laing has unveiled its annual
release of it Speyside blended malt
whisky winter warmer Scallywag.
Scallywag Winter Edition 2023 which
remains true to self with 100% Sherry
Cask maturation from the finest Pedro
Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry butts.
This years release is the fourth
instalment in Scallywag's Annual Winter
Series, it is said to showcase a
splendid union of Speyside Single Malts,
resulting in a remarkably opulent and
robust whisky. Douglas Laing tells me
that whisky connoisseurs can look
forward to encountering inviting aromas
of warm gingerbread, spiced oak, and
zesty orange rind on the nose. The
palate unfolds with layers of rich cocoa
and succulent berries, accompanied by a
nutty malt character. As the experience
culminates, Scallywag enthusiasts can
expect a finale featuring the delightful
combination of dates, forest fruits, and
winter spices.
This heartwarming Winter dram has been
meticulously bottled at its natural cask
strength of 52.5% ABV, proudly
maintaining its integrity by eschewing
artificial colouring and
chill-filtration. Presented in an
exquisite pearlescent gift tube, the
spirited Feisty Fox Terrier has
journeyed North to admire the
awe-inspiring Northern Lights.
