Douglas Laing
has unveiled its latest limited edition
Rock Island Blended Malt Scotch whisky,
the Rock Island Tequila Edition, a blend
of single malts whiskies from the
Scottish islands of Arran, Islay, Jura,
and Orkney which has been finished in
Tequila casks.
 Douglas Laing, the Glasgow-based
independent Scotch Whisky Blender,
Bottler, and Distiller, has unveiled
their latest limited edition: a Rock
Island Blended Malt Scotch Whisky which
has been finished in Tequila Casks.
Previous limited editions of Rock Island
Blended Malt have been immensely
popular, and this edition is expected to
be no different.
The Rock Island Tequila Cask edition is
exclusively finished in ex-Tequila
Casks, blending the cultures and
flavours of Scotland and Mexico to
create a unique Rock Island Blended
Malt. Douglas Laing tells me that the
single malts in Rock Island, sourced
from the renowned whisky islands of
Arran, Islay, Jura, and Orkney, have
been finished in high-quality Tequila
casks. This finishing process is said to
have imparted flavours of crème brûlée,
brown sugar, and toasted oak, with a
touch of peat, complemented by the
citrus and freshness from the Tequila
Cask.
The Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition is
presented in a bottle-only format,
featuring a hand-drawn, premium design
sleeve. The design showcases elements of
Mexican heritage and culture through its
iconography and colours, seamlessly
integrated with the premium Rock Island
branding.
This Global Limited Edition is bottled
at 48% ABV and offered without colouring
or chill-filtration, adhering to the
Douglas Laing family’s philosophy of
bottling whisky "As natural as it gets."
