Review of the Redbreast Lustau Edition a sherry finished Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey and the latest addition to the Redbreast core range.
Fans of Irish single pot still whiskey, and I count myself as one of those, will be pleased to hear that Redbreast has added a new permanent addition to their range of whiskey, the new Redbreast Lustau Edition has just joined the Irish Single Pot Still line up.
Following the current trend of many new whisk(e)y releases across all categories of whisky Redbreast Lustau carries no age statement, which is a first for a Redbreast core range whiskey. There youngest expression before Lustau is 12 year old but I have been told that the new Redbreast Lustau is aged between 9 and 12 years plus one extra year finishing in Oloroso sherry casks.
Redbreast Lustau Edition has been finished in first-fill sherry butts that where seasoned with Oloroso sherry from the now prestigious Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, Spain, this release celebrates the iconic sherry influence found throughout the Redbreast range.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill-filtration, Redbreast Lustau Edition is available from this month at the following RRPs; Canada, $90; France, €65; Ireland, €69; and UK, £55. It will also be available in the United States from October 1st 2016, at RRP $69.
You will find Redbreast Lustau Edition available from specialist whisky shops such as
The Whisky Exchange from this month.
