Review of the
Old Pulteney 30 Year Old 200th
Anniversary release,

Old Pulteney 30 Year Old is one of two
highly limited Old Pulteney single malt
Scotch whiskies released today, 16 June
2026,
to commemorate a significant milestone
for the distillery — 200 years of whisky
making on Scotland's remote northern
coastline.
Limited to just 1,000 bottles worldwide,
the whisky has been matured in American
oak casks before undergoing further
refinement in European oak. The result
they tell me is a single malt that
captures the enduring influence of the
Caithness coastline, celebrating both
the distillery's unwavering dedication
to craftsmanship and the qualities that
have made Old Pulteney one of Scotland's
most respected and enduring single
malts.
Enhancing the rarity of this release,
Distillery Manager Malcolm Waring
personally hand-filled the casks in
which the whisky matured for three
decades, allowing it to develop the
signature coastal character for which
Old Pulteney is renowned.
The whisky is housed in an elegant
crystal decanter, painstakingly
handcrafted and decorated by Glencairn
Crystal. Finished with delicate
rose-gold detailing, each decanter
retains Old Pulteney’s distinctive neck
design, inspired by the unique shape of
the distillery’s stills. Intricate
sand-etched wave patterns adorn the
base, reflecting the maritime elements
that have influenced the whisky
throughout its maturation. The bespoke
presentation case, meanwhile, draws
inspiration from weathered driftwood,
mirroring the whisky’s balance of
sophistication and rugged coastal
character.
Designed by Lewis Moberly, the Old
Pulteney team collaborated with two
specialist British craftspeople to bring
the presentation to life. Glencairn
Crystal produced the bespoke decanters,
while Morans Wood Components handcrafted
the distinctive outer cases.
As Old Pulteney enters its third
century, these remarkable releases serve
not only as a celebration of the
distillery’s rich heritage, but also as
a statement of intent for the future,
marking the beginning of a new era for
The Maritime Malt.
