 Douglas Laing & Co. has unveiled the
latest addition to its Old Particular
Red Wine Cask collection: a 16 Year Old
Single Grain Scotch Whisky from the
Girvan Distillery. This limited-edition
release has been finished in a
single Merlot Red Wine Cask, marking the
fourth expression in this exclusive
series.
The Old Particular Red Wine Cask
collection is celebrated for its
thoughtful pairings, designed to enhance
the unique qualities of each Malt and
Grain Scotch Whisky. These selections
aim to elevate complexity and introduce
distinctive flavour profiles.
For this release, the journey leads to
France, where a Merlot Red Wine Cask
from sunnier climates imparts its
character to the whisky. Girvan's
elegant complexity meets Merlot's bold,
structured notes, resulting in a
symphony of flavours. Expect tasting
notes of "hard candy, honeyed cereal,
and rich dark toffee with smooth ganache,"
complemented by a powerful finish of
"cinnamon spice and ripe red fruits"
brought out by the French oak.
The Old Particular Girvan 16 Year Old
Single Grain has been bottled at a
robust 48.4% ABV, this special edition
is non-chill filtered and free from
artificial colouring. It will be
available for purchase at a suggested
price of £85.00 / €101.00 from specialist online whisky
